What If America...?
Recognizing Choices in America (RCA)
Explore the Past. Examine the Choices. Reimagine the Outcomes. Understand the Consequences.
What if a pivotal American election had produced a different outcome?
Through interactive historical mock elections, What If America...? challenges participants to investigate the candidates, issues, and circumstances surrounding significant American elections. Participants assume roles, cast their votes according to their own informed judgments, and compare their results with the actual historical outcomes.
But the learning doesn't end when the votes are counted.
Participants explore how alternative election results might have influenced America's laws, culture, and society. Through historical investigation and respectful discussion, they examine constitutional principles, consider competing perspectives, and distinguish evidence-informed possibilities from assumptions and emotional responses.
By exploring the consequences of individual and collective decisions, participants develop independent thinking, a greater appreciation for the freedoms, opportunities, and responsibilities of American citizenship, and an understanding of how their choices can influence the future.
Because history is shaped by choices. And every choice carries responsibility.
